With the growth of the use of mobile phones with Internet access, and 3G speeds. There has been an upsurge and growth in the number of websites offering mobile content.
While 3G offers significant bandwidth improvements over traditional dial-up. When designing a mobile phone web application, you need to take strong consideration of bandwidth usage and speed. Even though 3G has been around for some time, the reality is that access never seems to be 100% so making sure file sizes are small is critical..
At GTP’s Perth web design studio, we’ve been working on an interesting application to enable placing and payment acceptance via mobile phone of orders, that runs off the same system as the clients normal web site.
The customer’s website will run in a simplified version on a standard mobile phone web browser. Product can be ordered and paid for securely with complete end to end integration with the Australian banking system, enabling orders to be placed into the one e-commerce order management area. Orders can also be pulled into MYOB though the use of GTPs MYOB Integrator.
The system will be being trialled up in the ski slopes of Japan where quantities of great Australian wine will find their way into the rooms of many ski fanatics after a long day on the slopes. This is a long way from our Perth web programming team and so we are looking forward to hearing all about its success.
