Plan Your Web Site for Success - Do the Research and then Call GTP for a Proposal

So you want a web site? Well the first order of the day is to conduct thorough market research as to what your competition is doing.

In order for us to create something great for you, it is very helpful if you find the web sites out there that impress you for their design, functionality and information content.

We recommend that you spend a few hours searching through Google using various keywords for web sites in your industry.


Check out the Opposition

Your first task is to identify the headings for all the different sections and pages that your competitors have on their web site.  You can then cherry pick and reorganise the structure of these headings in the planning of your own website.

At the same time you should also copy and paste the text that they have used (that is good) to promote their products and services into a Word document for later reference when it comes time for you to write your own copy.  You might for instance copy three different versions of how three different web sites explain the service they offer.

The idea is not to use your competitors' copy, but to take their good ideas and improve upon them.  Whether you do this or hand the copy over to a copywriter to rewrite and restructure is up to you.

Calls to Action

If your web site is an information based site make sure you take particular note of the calls to action your competitors use and how they attempt to convert visitors to subscribers and online enquiries.  Write down the good ones and use these in your web site.
