Great Place to Get Stock Photos

Aug 29th 2009

Well selected images and Stock Photos placed on each of your web pages enhances the overall look to your web site.  Images can cost as little as $1 US for web site purposes from fotolia's web site.

We often use istock for images but recently came across fotolia which has a fresh range of imagery to search through.

You can create an account within 1 minute and put $20 US on your card to buy 20 credits which will get you 20 very good photos suitable for most web site applications.

Check out the fotolia web site here

Click to Call Technology. Convert More Visitors to Sales

Aug 11th 2009

Another way to increase conversion rates of web site visitors to calling customers is to offer a FREE CALL button on your web site

It works like this

1. Your visitor clicks your free call button
2. A Window pops up and asks for visitors phone number
3. They enter their number and click call me
4. The visitors phone starts ringing and they pick the phone
5. Your phone starts ringing and you pick it up and talk with your new customer
6. You get the sale or appointment
Note: You can customise at what times you will acept calls and to which phones you want calls directed to at times of the day.

How do you pay
You prepay $10, $50 etc into your account and top up when this is used.
Call rates can be found on the website here

You can sign up to a free trial which gives you $10 credit

GTP will need to embed the code for you on your web site in the appropriate spot. You may be able to drop the code in via an inews page to test it.  Cost for GTP to embed in the right spot is approximately $99 as it takes on average 45 mins.

Internet Explorer Crashing when using GTP iCommerce system

Aug 7th 2009

Does the below happen to you? Microsoft recently released Internet Explorer 8 and while it’s worth updating for the raft of usability and security improvements it has unfortunately caused an issue with the GTP image and file uploading system.

The below image is an example of what happens when you try and upload.

While we are working on a fix for this issue, we recommend using an alternative web browser called Firefox. Firefox is a great alternative to Internet Explorer and will install and import all your favourites and options from Internet Explorer. The interface is also very similar.

Some clients have also reported to us that a big white bar is covering some of the screen while using the editor in IE8, this is a related issue and it does not appear in Firefox or other versions of Internet Explorer.

You can download it visiting  http://www.getfirefox.com. Who knows, you might end up keeping it!

Twitter for Business

Jul 5th 2009

Hi all,  I would recommend setting up a twitter account at www.twitter.com and use your name or your business name as soon as possible.  TV shows, politicians, celebrities, and businesses managing their branding are setting up twitter accounts.

Here is an article on twitter that I found interesting about how business is turning to twitter. .http://www.news-herald.com/articles/2009/07/05/news/nh1115471.txt

I've only recently starting playing with twitter but its becoming as big as myspace and facebook so its one to keep an eye on and I feel its better to explore it now, rather than later.

As a business you can use your twitter account to alert your followers to updates you have made to your web site like new information, new products, price changes, new pictures, special offers, in store offers, clearance offers, new seasons offerings, mystery packages, competitions, winners, voucher codes.

Once you have set up a twitter account, their are other sites like www.twollow.com and www.twollo.com and http://www.ifollowback.com/  which can enable you to build a following of people who are related to product.  I wont go into how these work as I am only new to twitter myself and I am sure some of you have been twittering for a while.  However I set all up in 15 minutes and started getting followers very quickly - you should do the same.  Ive been told to clear out non follow back twitterer's once a week using http://dossy.org/twitter/karma/ .  I'll check this one out later.

If you build up a following of your clients on your twitter account it is an easy way to communicate with them immediately and inexpensively in a similar way to email marketing.  The advantage of a twitter post to your database is that its limited to 140 characters so all the worry about what the heck to I put in my email newsletter is removed.  You can communicated with your database far more frequently on a more personable note.  Please note - you should also continue to use an email marketing strategy.

We can also then put in a link on your web site "Follow me on Twitter" as an alternative to someone signing up to your database.  I don't think we should do this until you get familiar with twitter and are happy to use it regularly.

One to consider
